Sharps
Sharps began producing tracks at an early age, inspired by the raves and IDM of the 90's, and a cheap toy sampling keyboard. In late 2007 he broke onto the international scene with his bomb "Nightwork", a mutant crossover tune which got heavy play from some of the biggest DJ's in North America's bass scene, including Mat the Alien, Bassnectar and Ill Gates. This success was followed by several hot tunes in 2008, including the bass workout "Girl Sweat", a track which had initially gone nearly unnoticed on his own home-grown label Saedos Records. Luckily, Robb G heard the track, and released it on his own label, Promo Records, where it exploded on the charts on Beatport and DJ Download. 2009 saw his release of "My Little Pony" and "The Limit", two envelope-pushing dubstep jams that hit big in the summer, getting big play at Shambhala and Burningman.
Sharps manages Saedos Records, and the release of his newest EP "The Stag" has put his label on the radar both sides of the Atlantic, having reached enormous success in the UK, US, Canada and beyond.
Sharps credits his influences to Dubstep, Miami Bass, Glitch, Breakbeat, D&B, Acid House, Dance, Reggaeton and IDM. His hi-tech bass music is made for large systems, driven by the global need for mad tunes, and the excitement and energy that comes when people gather to wash their souls in Bass. Not content to stick to one genre, his productions encompass a diverse range of beats as he strives for the most vivid, rich and mind expanding sounds.
As a DJ, Sharps drops a colourful and heavy blend of his own tracks, remixes and edits, and big tunes from the underground. Comfortable on a live rig or a traditional pair of decks, his sets are always solid, moving the crowd hard and with authority. His early experience DJing was in Edmonton at underground parties, GOMP and Oh Snap! events. Sharps has also rocked parties in Calgary, Nelson BC, Vancouver, Montreal, San Francisco, and most fondly, at Burningman 2009 with The Phage, where he was fortunate to share the stage with mighty Tipper, Heyoka and Ill Gates.
